PDF launched campaign for Thalassaemia
Recent data shows that in Bangladesh 10 million people carry traits of Thalassaemia. This means our next generations are at a high risk of inheriting the disease, as it develops when both of the parents carry the trait of Thalassaemia. Awareness is crucial to promote pre-marital testing for Thalassaemia carriers to prevent marriage between two carriers. With a view to creating mass awareness and raising fund for existing Thalassaemia patients, Physically Challenged Development Foundation (PDF) in collaboration with Bangladesh Thalassaemia Foundation (BTF) organised a variety of programmes in different universities of Dhaka. PDF has raised funds from different sources, the entire amount of which would be donated to the welfare of Thalassaemia patients through BTF.
