Extortionists throw bombs at house, hurt owner

Extortionists exploded bombs at a house, injuring its owner at Ghoragacha village under Harinakundo upazila early yesterday. Victim Kumaresh Chandra Biswas of the village was admitted to a local hospital. The incident took place at around 2:30am, said Abul Khayer, officer in-charge of Harinakundo police station. Kapashatia UP chairman Moshiur Rahman said the gang recently demanded Tk two lakh from Kumaresh's son Tapan Chandra Biswas. Angered by On refusal, they exploded three bombs at Tapan's house when Kumaresh was asleep, said the chairman. In Jessore, a young housewife was injured as a bomb exploded at Dhulgram village in Abhaynagar upazila on Sunday evening, reports UNB. The injured was identified as Sandhya Rani, 20, wife of Chaitanya Roy of the village. The victim said an 'abandoned' container went off when she collected and pelted it at chickens to drive them away at the backyard of their house at around 6:30pm, leaving her injured. A chicken was also killed in the bomb explosion.
