HC asks Buet to start admission process
The High Court yesterday directed the authorities of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) to immediately start the admission process at the institution for 2012-13 sessions.
The Buet authorities have not started the admission process yet because of the teachers' and students' agitation and movement demanding resignation of the vice chancellor and pro-VC.
The HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Advocate Eunus Ali Akond seeking a directive on the authorities to immediately publish a circular for admission of new students in Buet.
Eunus Ali filed the petition recently as a supplementary to a writ petition upon which the HC on July 31 imposed an injunction on the agitation and movement of teachers and students on the Buet campus.
Earlier on July 31, Eunus Ali Akond prayed to the HC to order the authorities to start the admission process of Buet.
