A Dhaka court placed 35 alleged members of banned outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir, who were arrested on Sunday, on a two-day remand after they had been produced before it yesterday. Rab had arrested the 35 men while they were holding a “secret meeting” at a restaurant in the capital's Panthapath. On Monday night Rab handed them over to Kalabagan police. A case was filed under the anti-terrorism act against them with the police station. Enamul Haque Enam, officer-in-charge of Kalabagan Police station, said they had sought a 10-day remand, while the court granted the two-day remand. They would now question them to unearth the motive behind the gathering and whether they were planning any subversive activity, he added.
