12 killed, 30 hurt in road crashes
Twelve people were killed and 30 others injured in separate road accidents in Comilla, Chittagong, Netrakona, Chapainawabganj, Pabna and Natore on Wednesday and yesterday.
UNB from Comilla reports, three people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch after hitting a covered van in Laksam upazila yesterday morning.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound bus collided with the covered van coming from the opposite direction and fell into the ditch at Chandana Krishnapur, killing the three instantly.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals and local clinics.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, two motorcyclists died as a covered van rammed their motorbike on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sona Pahar area in the district yesterday.
The deceased are Nazim Uddin, 31, son of Enamul Haque Chowdhury, and Sultan Mahmud Rana, 26, son of Nurul Amin; both hailing from West Koyapara in Mirsarai.
Our Netrakona correspondent reports, Ahsan Mia, 35, of village Lepsia, was killed and 10 others injured after a truck knocked a human hauler on Mohonganj-Lepsia road near Lepsia Bazar in Khaliajuri upazila yesterday morning.
The injured were admitted to Mohonganj Upazila Health Complex and Netrakona Sadar Hospital.
Meanwhile, Juma Akther, 10, daughter of Abdur Rashid, died instantly as a police van ran her over while she was crossing Netrakona-Mymensingh road at Narandia around 6:30pm on Wednesday.
Our Chapainawabganj correspondent reports, Sakhina Begum, 40, wife of Ayub Ali, died as a tractor (locally known as trolley) hit her at Alinagar in the district town yesterday morning.
In Pabna, Ankhi Khatun, 30, wife of Mosharaf Hossain of Ishwardi upazila, died instantly as a tractor hit her at Alobag square in the upazila yesterday.
BSS from Natore reports, Abdur Rashid, 40, a health inspector of Lalpur upazila health division, died when a bus hit his motorbike in Tebaria Palpara area of the district town yesterday.
