Govt tightens security ahead of Eid
Aiming to tighten security across the country, the government has deployed over 41,000 law enforcers to maintain law and order before, during and after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Full deployment of the law enforcers including police, Rab and Ansar began yesterday at different strategic points of the country to ensure stringent security.
“We have arranged security in three phases -- pre-Eid, in Eid and post-Eid -- for smooth celebration,” Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmud Khandker told the news agency.
“The first phase (pre-Eid) deployment has already been completed while the second phase (during Eid) or full deployment started yesterday,” he said.
Check posts have been set up at every entry and exit point for foolproof security. All entry and exit points of the country are being monitored round the clock.
Besides, different agencies have been directed to conduct raids in guesthouses, slums and crime points in the capital. There will be a strong vigil on highways, and in border areas.
Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras were installed at different strategic points across the country including Sadarghat Launch Terminal, important bus terminals and Kamalapur Railway Station to ensure foolproof security.
Plainclothes police will also keep watch on 144 markets and shopping malls in the city during the Eid holidays.
