Don't speak against war crimes trials
Urges Quamrul
State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam yesterday urged all not to make any unnecessary comments on the war crimes tribunals and the trial of war crimes suspects for smooth running of the trial process.
“Please, do not speak against the tribunal and get frustrated. The tribunals are working independently…please don't make any comment that goes in favour of the suspects,” he told a discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
He dismissed the apprehension aired by different quarters about the completion of war crimes suspects' trial. “There's no doubt…the trial of top five to six suspects will be completed by December next.”
Quamrul alleged the BNP-Jamaat alliance is still conspiring to foil the trial of the war crimes suspects.
“We'll complete at any cost…no one will be able to stop the trial of war crimes suspects.”
He said the government has stepped on a venomous snake. “If we can't kill the snake, it will bite back.”
Sheikh Russell Shishu Sangsad arranged the discussion in observance of the 37th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with its president Dr Sultana Shafi in the chair.
