Four die after taking liquor
Four people died and another fell sick after taking spurious liquor at Harijonpalli in old Garuhati area of Bakshiganj upazila yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Laskar Ali, 56, a class four employee at the upazila office, Babul, 45, of Namapara village, Golap Hossain, 55, of Surjanagar village and cobbler Shuklal, 35, of Kurigram district.
Of them, Laskar died on way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) at around 3.00am and Babul died at Jamalpur General Hospital at around 5:00am.
Shuklal died at his in-laws' house around 5:30am while Golap at his residence at 6:00 am, victims' family sources said.
Abu Md Fazlul Karim, officer in-charge of Bakshiganj Police Station, said they recovered the bodies and sent them to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
