Govt must bring culprits to justice

While the age-old Buddhist temples and homes, the part and parcel of our heritage and culture, were burning, the police did nothing to stop the mayhem. And then the politicians as usual gave statements blaming each other with a view to gaining political advantage out of the outrageous incident. Suranjit Sengupta rightly pointed to the law enforcers' inaction in this regard. While the criminals were on the rampage carrying out arson attacks on the temples and homes using gunpowder, the law enforcers did not even lobbed a teargas to disperse the mob. The very manner of the attack learly shows that it was preplanned and well-orchestrated. If the government knows that the Islamists or the war criminals are at the root of all mayhem, why are they not taking any action against them? If the government fails to take matching action and find out the real culprits, we will see more such mindless violence and bloodshed in the near future.
