Young journos urged to follow Aatus Samad
The country's young journalists should pursue the professional skills and dedication of recently deceased journalist Ataus Samad to maintain objectivity and authenticity in news, speakers said at a commemorative meeting yesterday.
During his long career in journalism, Ataus Samad always nurtured honesty, professionalism, objectivity and boldness, which can be a source of inspiration for the budding journalists, they told the programme at Dhaka Reporters Unity.
Ataus Samad made significant contribution in the country's Liberation War, said MA Shaheed Babul, secretary general of Muktijoddha Gono Parishad, which organised the meeting. He deserved state honour during his burial, but he did not get it, he said.
Ataus Samad passed away in the capital on September 26 at the age of 75. He was buried in Azimpur graveyard.
Former adviser to a caretaker government Hossain Zillur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.
