Upgrading Dhaka Airport
Denmark to give Bangladesh $55m
Nordea Bank of Denmark will provide around $55 million to Bangladesh to improve infrastructure and efficiency in air traffic at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka through rehabilitation of its taxiway as well as drainage systems.
A mixed credit agreement to this effect was signed between Nordea Bank of Denmark and the government of Bangladesh on Wednesday.
Economic Relations Division (ERD) Joint Secretary Nurjahan Begum and Nordea Bank Vice President Henrik Brink signed the agreement on behalf of the government of Bangladesh and Nordea Bank respectively, officials at the ERD told the news agency.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) under the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry will implement the project, titled "Upgradation of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport".
Of the mixed credit, the loan amounts to around $38.51 million and the grant nearly $15.39 million. The loan is repayable by 20 equal consecutive semi-annual instalments in 10 years.
The management fee and the commitment fee of the loan are 0.325 percent and 0.20 percent respectively. Interest, Bank Margin and EKF (Export Credit Fonden) Premium of this loan will be paid by Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA).
Officials of the ERD, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, Danish Embassy and DANIDA mixed credit secretariat, among others, were present at the agreement signing ceremony.
