Fisherman shot dead in Bay
Robbers yesterday attacked a fishing boat in the Bay of Bengal near Chittagong Port, killing a fisherman.
The deceased was Md Shobuj, 25, son of Md Farid of West Toraboti village in Lakshmipur.
Two boats carrying around 20 robbers chased and opened fire on the fishing boat when it was returning ashore after fishing in deep sea, said Md Faruk Majhi, leader of the fishing boat.
Shobuj, who was aboard the fishing boat, received bullet injuries in the incident, he said.
Once the boat was ashore, Shobuj was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 2:30am.
