Thief lynched at RU hall
A thief was lynched by the angry students of Syed Amir Ali Hall at Rajshahi University yearly yesterday.
The deceased was Hasibul Haque, 18.
Police said sensing presence of a gang of thieves around 200 students took alert position in and around the hall around 3:30am, and caught Hasibul, while the others managed to flee the scene.
Students beat the thief up with iron roads and sticks leaving him seriously injured, they said.
Later, police rushed Hasibul to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The hall's several students said they remained alert for the last few days following some recent incidents of theft in the hall.
