Young man beaten dead by uncle
A young man was killed allegedly by his uncle in the capital's Savar area yesterday.
Victim, Mohammad Kalam, 17, worked at his uncle Manir Hossain's house as a domestic help.
Police said Manir confessed that he beat Kalam up with a wood stick.
Later, he took Kalam to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 2:50pm, they said.
Earlier, Manir hid the victim's identity and told journalists at the DMCH that the "unidentified youth" was killed after being squeezed between two launches at Sadarghat.
As Manir's speech made police suspicious, they detained him and contacted relatives of Kalam.
Relatives of Kalam went to Shahbagh Police Station and revealed the mystery.
