AL leader shot dead in Munshiganj
A local Awami League leader was gunned down by some unidentified criminals in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj on Thursday night.
The victim identified as Mobarak Hossain Khan, 55, son of Wahab Khan, was general secretary of Kazir Pagla Ward No. 6 unit of Awami League.
The unidentified miscreants shot in his head just outside the front door of his house around 8:30pm after he had returned home, said Md Saiful Islam, assistant superintendent of police in Munshiganj.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead at about 10:00pm, Saiful added.
Police recovered a cartridge and a bullet from the spot, he said.
Masud Khan, officer-in-charge of Louhajang Police Station, said the miscreants might have killed him over previous enmity.
