AL leader stabbed dead in B'baria
An upazila level leader of the ruling Awami League (AL) was stabbed to death by a rival faction of the party in Brahmanbaria yesterday.
The victim was AL Sarail upazila unit vice-president AKM Iqbal Azad.
Police said AKM Iqbal came under attack in a human hauler stand area of the upazila around 6:30pm.
Gias Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sarail Police Station, said a group of people of an AL faction attacked the car of the AL leader and dragged him out of the vehicle.
The attackers stabbed AKM Iqbal indiscriminately in the chest and neck leaving him critically injured, he said.
He was rushed to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital were doctors declared him dead, the police official said.
