A 12-year-old schoolboy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself after a quarrel with his mother in their residence in the capital's Jurain last night. The victim, Mohammad Kawser, son of Abdus Kuddus, was a student of class IV at London Bridge International School in the area. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shyampur Police Station Abul Kalam Azad said Kawser quarrelled with his mother as she stopped him from going outside to play with his friends and asked him to study. Following the quarrel, he entered a room and hanged himself from the window grill, he said. As he was not coming out for around two hours, family members broke into the room and found him hanging, he added. Kawser was declared dead when he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 10:00pm. Family members and neighbours told police that it was a suicide, said the OC.
