40 houses burnt in Ctg

An hour-long fire yesterday burnt down 40 bamboo-made houses in Dewanbazar area of Chittagong city. The fire started at about 6:30pm in one of the houses belonging to one Sahabuddin in Kholipha Patti of Dewanbazar and soon spread to adjacent houses. On information, six fire fighting units from Chandanpura, Nandankanon and Agrabad Fire Stations rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames, said Subash Chandra Debnath, in-charge of Chandanpura Fire Staion.
