The High Court yesterday rejected two separate bail petitions filed by former Bangladesh ambassador to the Philippines Majeda Rafiqun Nessa in connection with two corruption cases. On October 31, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the cases with Shahbag Police Station. According to the case statements, Majeda misappropriated Tk 8.70 lakh, and appointed her three family members to different posts at her office in the Philippines during her tenure between September 2010 and July 2012. She filed the anticipatory bail petitions with the HC on November 15. The court rejected the bail petitions, said ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan. Majeda's counsel Barrister Abdullah-al Mamun said they will move an appeal before the Supreme Court against the HC order.
