Seven JMB men get 10 yrs in prison

A Rajshahi court yesterday sentenced seven activists of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in an August 17, 2005 synchronised bomb attacks case. Judge Ekramul Haque Chowdhury of the Speedy Trial Tribunal also fined each Tk 10,000, in default to suffer another six months in jail. JMB carried out the attacks in some 500 places across the country, including Rajshahi city. Afterwards, the aforementioned case was filed with Rajpara Police Station. Of the convicts, Toriqul Islam, Shafiullah Tarek, Abu Isa and Johurul Islam have been arrested while Korban Ali, Enamul Hoque and Amanullah are on the run. They were found guilty of exploding bombs on Rajshahi Judges Court premises, in front of Advocate Bar and Deputy Commissioner's office, and Laxmipur intersection.
