DRU's new president Shahed, general secretary Elias

Shahed Chowdhury, chief reporter of the daily Samakal, and Elias Khan, sports editor of the daily Amar Desh, were elected president and general secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity respectively yesterday. ABM Ziaul Kabir Suman of Diganta Television and Ilias Hossain of Independent TV were elected vice-president and joint general secretary respectively. Raju Ahmed of Gazi Television was elected as organising secretary while Rezaul Karim of The Financial Express was elected finance secretary. Mursalin Nomani of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) became the first among the elected executive members followed by Hasan Jahid Tusher of The Daily Star and Jamiul Ahsan Shipu of the daily Ittefaq. About 800 members of DRU cast their votes in the election to elect their leadership for the next one year.
