Nazrul Geeti exponent Sohrab's death condoled
Different organisations and persons expressed their deep condolence at the death of renowned Nazrul Geeti exponent Sohrab Hossain.
Sohrab, one of the pioneering Nazrul Sangeet singers of the country, passed away at a hospital in the capital yesterday. He was 91.
As a teacher at Nazrul Academy, Sohrab inspired many youngsters to learn Nazrul Geeti; and created a generation of renowned singers who got training from him, said a statement of Nazrul Academy.
In a condolence message, rights organisation Ain o Salish Kendra said Sohrab's death has created a vacuum in the world of Narul Geeti.
In a message, Gonoforum President Dr Kamal Hossain and its General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu expressed their condolence at his death. They said Sohrab will live forever in the hearts of people through his unforgettable songs.
In her message, Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury said Sohrab was a teacher of pure music. The vaccum created after his death will never be filled.
In his condolence message, the House's Speaker Abdul Hamid said Sohrab's contributions in the field of Nazrul Geeti will always be remembered with love and respect.
In the same message, Deputy Speaker Shawkat Ali also expressed his condolence. He said Sohrab will be remembered as a great artist.
In their condolence message, Law Minister Shafique Ahmed and State Minister for Law Md Qamrul Islam prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
