Three killed in road accidents
Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Bogra and Kushtia yesterday.
Our Bogra correspondent reports, a girl was killed in Shibgonj upazila of Bogra yesterday morning.
Poli Rani, 6, daughter of Uzzal Sarker of Horipur village in the upazila, was killed instantly as an oncoming sand-laden truck ran her over around 10:00am while she was crossing the road with her mother. However, her mother managed to cross the road before the accident occurred.
Following the accident, agitating public blocked Joypurhat-Bogra road for an hour. They freed the road after Shibgonj police assured them to arrest the accused driver.
Our Kushtia correspondent reports, a truck driver and his helper was killed when their vehicle heading for Jessore skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch at Talbaria in Mirpur upazila in Kushtia after hitting another stationery truck from behind yesterday.
The dead driver, Abdur Rashid, 38, of Bogra, and helper Alamgir Hossain, 30, of Gaibandha, died on the spot.
Police sent the bodies to Kushtia general hospital for autopsies.
