RU staff call 3-day strike from Jan 5 to raise retirement age
Some officials and staff of Rajshahi University yesterday announced a three-day strike on the campus from January 5 demanding an increase in their retirement age from 60 years to 62.
The Rajshahi University Karmakarta Karmachari Oikya Parishad told a rally on the campus following work abstention from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
Shamim Hossain Chowdhury, organising secretary of the parishad, said the government increased the retirement age to 62 years long back but the RU vice chancellor refused to increase the retirement age.
Contacted, RU registrar Prof MA Bari said the university authorities are holding talks with the teachers and staff in this regard.
