Villagers beat dead youth suspecting him a robber

Locals beat dead a youth suspecting him a member of robber gang at Debor Para village in Lalpur upazila early yesterday. Three members of a house were also injured by the gang. The deceased was identified as Farhad Ali, 28, son of Bayes Ali of Tarapur village under the same upazila. Matiyar Rahman, officer in-charge of Lalpur police station, said there was a family feud between Milton Ali of village Milkipara and his father-in-law Zinnat Ali of Debor Para village for long. On the fateful night, Milton along with Alamgir, Farhad and Intaj swooped on the house of his father-in-law with sharp weapons and injured Zinnat Ali, his son Santu and daughter-in-law Sahida Begum critically. Hearing the hue and cry, locals rushed to the spot and chased the gang. They beat up Farhad leaving him dead on the spot. However, others managed to flee the scene. In another incident, robbers looted over Tk 3.82 lakh from the accounts section of a local sugar mill in Sadar upazila late Tuesday night. Sirajul Islam, head cashier of the mill, said the robbers entered the accounts section of Natore Sugar Mill located at Administrative Bhaban of the mill by breaking window grill. They entered the vault room by breaking its wall and looted the money from the vault. In Manikganj, robbers took away 10 pieces of fridge, two motorbikes, six televisions and 11 pieces of stabiliser from the show room of Sayem Electronics at Nayadingi bazar under Saturia upazila early yesterday, reports our correspondent. The robbers entered the show room by breaking the lock of shutter at around 2:00am, proprietor Jahangir Alam said. The gang also looted a 200 kg iron box, locally known as sindhuk, with 35 tolas of silver and some gold in it from the shop of Sujon Saha at Koitta Khalpar, half a kilometre away from the show room.
