Restore political norms
Obaidul Quader asks BCL men on its anniversary
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday asked the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) to practice "analogue behaviour" that holds values and norms and shun the digital craze.
“Please pursue analogue behaviour shunning digital one… analogue behaviour holds values and norms which are now on the wane in politics. We have to restore those,†he said while inaugurating a BCL rally on its 65th founding anniversary at Aparajeyo Bangla on Dhaka University campus.
Quader regretted that the image of the BCL is being tarnished for the “misdeeds†of a few leaders and activists of the organisation.
“The government has many achievements but those are being undermined for behavioural problem of the BCL men that shamed us as former leaders of the organisation,†he said.
“The image of Bangladesh Chhatra League cannot be allowed to be dented for the misdeeds of a few leaders and activists," he added.
"Some formalin and hybrid (elements) have intruded into BCL. They are maligning the reputation of Awami League and also of the government,†Quader said.
About the negative media publicity about BCL, the minister urged the leaders and activists of the student body to reply to such negative publicity through their positive behaviour.
He also called upon the BCL leaders for practicing self-criticism .
State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Awami League leaders Abu Syed Swapan, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Afzal Hossain and Enamul Haque Shamim, among others, were present at the programme.
Later, the BCL men brought out a colorful procession from the Aparajeo Bangla that ended at Bangabandhu Avenue after parading some main streets of the capital.
