10 injured in Laxmipur gunfight
At least 10 people were injured during a gunfight between two rival groups at Duttapara Bazar in Sadar upazila last night.
Locals said the clash ensued when the supporters of former UP member Aziz swooped on the traders, who were holding a meeting at the Bazar Samity office at around 7:00pm.
Following the attack, Aziz's supporters and their rivals, led by UP chairman Nur Hossain Shamim, locked in gunfight that lasted for about two hours, leaving at least 10 people from both sides injured.
During the clash, the supporters of Shamim attacked Aziz's house nearby and set it afire. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and dispersed the clashing group
The injured received treatment at private clinics. None was arrested in connection with the incident as of yesterday.
