Section 144 in Comilla
The local administration yesterday imposed Section 144 in and around Poyalgachha School and College in Barura upazila as two Islamic organisations called their programmes at the same venue and same time for today.
The restriction will remain in force from 6:00am today till 6:00am tomorrow.
Barura upazila nirbahi officer Samia Akhter said an organisation--Islami Samaj Kalyan Sangstha--on Friday announced to hold a waz mahfil at Poyalgachha School and College ground this afternoon.
Later, another organisation--Mahfil Entejamia Committee--also called their mehfil at the same venue the same time, sparking off tension in the area.
Tension prevailed in the area as both the groups were making preparations to hold their respective programmes, said the UNO.
