Torture on minor domestic help alleged
An eight-year-old domestic help was seriously burnt allegedly as the daughters of her master poured boiled oil and hit her with hot cooking utensil (khunti) in Rangabali upazila over a trivial matter.
Abul Kalam, father of injured Mukta Begum of Baherchar area, filed a case with Judicial Magistrate court against Abdul Mannan, chairman of Chotobaishdia union parishad, in this connection on Thursday.
Kalam alleged that they fled home as the chairman and his son threatened the family members of dire consequences if they did not withdraw the case.
According to the case, Mukta had been working at the house of Mannan, also joint secretary of the upazila AL, for the last one year.
On December 27, Mukta fell sick as Seema, a daughter of the chairman, hit in her right hand with a hot khunti for breaking a water glass and a plate at kitchen.
The following day, Sathee, another daughter of Mannan, threw boiled oil on Mukta's left leg as she refused to carry out the household chores due to the illness.
The siblings also beat up the domestic help, leaving her injured over the issue.
Refuting the allegations, the chairman said that instigated by political rivals the case was filed only to harass him and his family members.
