Hamidul Khan lauded for role in spreading Bangla culture

Speakers at a reception yesterday lauded Hamidul Khan, president of German-Bangla Society, for his significant contribution in promoting Bangla language, literature and culture in the global community. The expatriate introduced Bangladesh's culture in Germany and hence the global arena through various social activities and can be an inspiration for the next generation, they said. The reception accorded to Hamidul was organised by Council for Bengali Language, Literature and Culture in Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University. Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique was present as chief guest while lawmaker Asaduzzaman Noor was the special guest. Prof Rafiqullah Khan of Bangla department presided over the reception. Bangladesh National Museum Deputy Keeper Dr Niru Shamsunnahar, television personality Adam Dawla and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Secretary Manzurur Rahman gave speeches on the occasion and the council's Joint Secretary Farzana Afrin conducted the programme. Afterwards, a cultural programme was held where Warda Rihab and Samina Hossain Prema performed dance and Tripti Khan and Sharif Arefin Rony sang.
