Bangladesh elected vice chair of UN commission
Bangladesh has been elected the vice chair of the United Nations Peace Building Commission (UNPBC) after a one-year successful term as the commission's chair.
Croatia has replaced Bangladesh as the chair of the commission on January 28, according to a message received in Dhaka yesterday.
As chair, Bangladesh has played vital role to build post-conflict peace in many parts of the world through coordination among the Security Council, World Bank, African Bank for Development and NGOs.
Bangladesh also assured to offer all out cooperation to the commission to establish sustainable peace building in the conflict battered states in the light of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Peace Model endorsed by the UN already.
