15 abducted fishermen rescued, five robbers held from bay
Bangladesh Navy held five alleged robbers on a fishing boat from outer anchorage area of the Bay of Bengal near Gahira of Anwara upazila in Chittagong yesterday.
The force also rescued 15 fishermen from the boat, MV Sohan, held hostage by the five men since Monday.
The arrestees -- Md Elias, 20, of Cox's Bazar, Md Shafiullah, 19, Asar Uddin, 27, Badi Alam, 20, and Abul Kalam, 20, of Kutubdia -- were handed over to Patenga Police Station.
Tipped off, a patrol team of Bangladesh Navy Anti-smuggling cell chased the robbers while they were attempting to loot other fishing vessels in the sea.
