8 of a family hurt in BCL attack
Eight of a family were injured in an attack allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists over an altercation centring the ownership of a star fruit tree in Narail municipality area yesterday.
Babu Lal Bhattacharjee, his wife Prianka, 17-month-old son Anik, 78-year-old father Chuni Thakur, brothers Samol and Shankor and sister-in-laws Champa and Dolon received first aid at Narail Sadar Hospital.
Babu, a market owner, and Anser Ali, a shop owner, on Thursday engaged in the argument, said locals and police.
Anser's son-in-law Sadiar Rahman, accompanied by some 25 BCL men armed with sharp weapons, launched the attack in Babu's residence, adjoining Rupgonj Bazar, said the district Awami league member, Jahangir Biswas.
Jahangir said his followers, as per his order, then beat up Anser. Police arrested one attacker, Mithun, and a case was being filed.
