Sylhet traders to keep businesses shut today

Traders in Sylhet city will keep their business establishments shut today protesting Friday's vandalism in the city. Leaders of Sylhet Zila Bayboshayee Oikya Kalyan Parishad announced the decision at a meeting on Saturday night. They also demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the people involved in the attacks. On Friday, activists of Islamist parties vandalised several banks and businesses in Shylet city, said a statement. Activists of pro-Awami League Bangladesh Chhatra League also attacked different shopping malls, banks and eateries on that day, the statement added. Meanwhile, the Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday condemned the attacks.
