White, yellow panels share new Ruta committee
Prof Azhar Ali, a pro-BNP-Jamaat white panel candidate, was elected president of Rajshahi University Teachers' Association following an election yesterday.
Pro-Awami League yellow panel candidate Prof Dr Sultan-ul-Islam of the geology and mining department was elected general secretary.
All but one of the remaining posts of the 15-member executive committee were of the yellow panel.
The office bearers are Prof AKM Shafiul Islam (vice president) of sociology, Prof Saiful Islam (treasurer) of management, and Dr Shitangsu Kumar Paul (joint secretary) of geography and environment science departments.
The members are Dr Rejina Laaj of zoology, Prof Tarikul Hasan of chemistry, M Omar Faruk Sarker of marketing, Prof M Shahidul Alam of botany, Prof M Ali Asgar of crop science and technology, Prof M Tajul Islam of accounting and information system, SM Imtiaj of sociology, Dr Tapan Kumar Roy of population science and human resource development, Prof Rustom Ali Ahmed of finance and banking, and Dr KBM Mahbubur Rahman (white panel) of economics departments.
Meanwhile, Swadhin Shikkhak Network, a platform of some teachers, in a statement, urged the newly elected executive committee to investigate into alleged mismanagement and irregularities of the vice-chancellor in teacher and staff recruitments.
