Satkhira court orders fresh probe by CID

Our Correspondent, Satkhira
A court in Satkhira yesterday rejected the charge sheet of landless woman Sabiran Bibi murder case in Kaliganj upazila and sent the case to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for fresh investigation. The court also asked CID to do the investigation by a police official not below the rank of assistant police superintendent (ASP), court sources said. Judge Ashish Ranjan Das of the District and Session judge's court passed the order after hearing the bail prayer of detained accused Noba Sardar. It is alleged that Noba Sardar of Kashibati village in Kaliganj was implicated in the case falsely by some land grabbers to save themselves. On February 27, 2005, over 300 miscreants led by some land grabbers attacked landless people at Bairagirchalk and Chingrikhali villages in Kaliganj upazila, blasted bombs and set fire to their houses, leaving 200 landless people including Sabiran Bibi fatally injured. She died at Khulna Sadar Hospital on March 1, 2005. Two days later, Sabiran Bibi's daughter Aleya Kahtun filed a case with a magistrate court at Satkhira accusing 29 people including Mahabbat Mir, Shahidul Islam and Mani Sardar.
