Workers Party demands in Satkhira
Leaders of district Workers Party in their first district extended committee meeting yesterday demanded the trial of war criminals as they were involved in killing, loot, rape, arson during the Liberation War in 1971.
The war criminals belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami also killed the intellectuals, the brave sons of the nation on December 14 just before the independence of the country, they said.
At the meeting held at district Bar association auditorium, they also vowed to raise their voices against those who are opposing implementation of the National Women Development Policy.
People are suffering a lot due to abnormal price hike of essentials, food crisis and power outage, they said, adding that the imperialists are trying to occupy natural oil and gas, electricity and ports of the country.
The present government is now trying to save the corrupt people by enacting 'Truth Commission' which is contrary to their earlier commitment, they said.
They urged the progressive democratic forces to be united to launch movement to fulfil the demand of holding national election first.
Workers Party Politburo member Nur Ahmed Bakul was the chief guest at the meeting with Prof Sabbir Hossain in the chair.
It was addressed, among others, by advocate Mustafa Lutfullah, district Bar association President advocate Shah alam, advocate Fahimul Haque Kislu, Mainul Hossain, Swapan Kumar Shil, Arun Kumar Das, Abdul Jalil, Krishna Pada Mondal and Nasrin Khan Lipi.
