Adviser Matin tells high officials of 2 divisions
Advisor for home affairs Maj. Gen. (Rtd) M A Matin ordered high officials of law enforcing agencies to ensure law and order by any means.
He was addressing a special meeting of high officials of police, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and district administration, held at Kushtia collectorate complex. High officials from Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi and Barisal also attended the meeting.
In his written speech, Matin also mentioned the Chuadanga jailbreak, killing of policeman in Bagmara, arms loot at Gazipur and rise in killings in the capital in last several.
The home affairs adviser ordered law enforcing agencies to take stern action against criminals and go coordinated drives involving all law enforcing agencies.
Matin stressed on prepare fresh lists of criminals across the country. He ordered police chiefs and high officials in districts to review law and order regularly.
For speedy trial of criminals, he asked police to probe and submit charge sheet quickly.
Matin said the year 2008 is very important for the caretaker government. The government is determined to hold a peaceful and credible parliamentary election as per the road map declared by the Election Commission. The administration in districts should be vigilant so that the target can be fulfilled, he added.
With Khulna Divisional Commissioner Yunusur Rahman in the chair, the meeting was attended by, among others, Additional Inspector General of Police Naba Bikrom Kishor Tripura, Khulna DIG Asaduzzaman, KMP Commissioner Helal Uddin Badari, Kushtia Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nepur Ahmed, Police Superintendent Mosleh Uddin Ahmed and Rab-12 in-charge Maj. Amjad Hossain Mithu.
