'Sylhet-Dhaka rly track safe'

Sylhet-Dhaka railway track is not at risk although cracks developed on earth in different places in Kamalganj upazila. Md Alkama Siddiquee, deputy commissioner (DC) of Moulvibazar said this to journalists after communication ministry joint secretary Shafiz Uddin Ahmed's visit to railway tracks at Shamsernagar on Friday. The joint secretary also visited other places where cracks developed. Md Mahbub Shaheen, additional deputy commissioner (General) of Moulvibazar and Hazera Khatoon, UNO of Kamalganj were present during his visit. Moulvibazar DC said the cracks were not widened further during last four days. He said the administration is monitoring the situation. He also said a team of geological survey will visit here soon to find out the cause of the cracks. It is worth mentioning, the cracks developed suddenly on earth in some hillocks, village road and houses under Kamalganj upazila since May 24. A crack expanded near Dhaka- Sylhet railway line near Shamsernagar. However, the railway authorities said the railway line is completely out of danger.
