Moulvibazar BNP closes ranks

After about six years, BNP leaders in Moulvibazar closed ranks and held a meeting on Friday marking the death anniversary of party's founder late president Ziaur Rahman. Leaders of BNP's front organiaations and upazilas also attended the meeting held at a local community center in the district town. Meeting sources said party leaders sidelined earlier also attended the meeting. Speakers there urged the BNP rank and file in the district to sink differences and unite. With law affairs secretary of district committee advocate Mohiuddin Manik in the chair, the meeting was addressed by, among others, district BNP secretary Fayzul Karim Mayun and Union Parishad chairman Muazzem Hussain Matuk. Later, Mayun told newsmen that now they are united and Begum Khaleda Robbany is still their leader. Khaleda Rabbani is a former lawmaker and former president of district BNP.
