Chiefs of 2 major parties need to be responsible: Oli
Liberal Democratic Party chief Col (retd) Oli Ahmed yesterday said chiefs of two major political parties should take responsible steps for ensuring a better atmosphere towards democracy.
If they fail to take right decisions all the achievements will be destroyed, he said at a press briefing at a hotel in Sylhet city in the afternoon.
Oli, who is on a three-day visit to Sylhet region, visited the shrine of Hajrat Shahjalal (RA) on his arrival there yesterday.
Restrictions on activities relating to holding elections need to be withdrawn but there is no need to lift the state of emergency as a whole, he said.
“Common people are not at all interested about the so-called dialogue. Rather they want elections at an earliest. There is no need to waste time in the name of dialogue,” he said.
Demanding announcement of specific date for election, he said restrictions concerning indoor politics should be lifted as soon as possible. The LDP chief appreciated 'huge achievements' of the present caretaker government.
