'Jamaat is a minority pressure group'
Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Convener Ferdous Ahmed Qureshi yesterday said Jamaat-e-Islam is a minority pressure group that will be abolished from the country in a natural way.
Trial of war criminals is a long process and a commission should be formed to identify them, Qureshi said at a press conference held at Rajshahi railway rest house in the evening.
PDP formed its strategy paper combining the dreams of Bangabandhu and Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, he said, adding that PDP is an election-based political party, not one loyal to this government.
Congratulating the government for the ongoing countrywide joint forces crackdown, the PDP convenor said earlier on several occasions, they demanded that the government take steps for arrest and punishment of the corrupted people, black money holders and criminals at upazila, district and city levels.
Former lawmaker Nur Muhammad Khan, advocate Sultanul Islam Moni, advocate Raihanul Islam Raihan and others PDP leaders were present during the press conference.
