Newsman 'tortured' by police admitted to MMCH
Case to be filed today

Yeasinur Rahman Ripon, Netrokona Correspondent of Jugantor and ETV was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) yesterday for treatment of injuries allegedly from police beating. Rahman was allegedly beaten by Netrokona model thana police on May 27. Ripon alleged that he became target of police as he filed some reports against their alleged misdeeds in recent days. A police team led by Officer-in-Charge of the model police station Monjur Kader arrested Ripon from Shivgonj Road in Netrokona town. “They behaved with me as if I was a listed criminal”, Ripon alleged. Ripon's mother Mehrunnessa Khanam Shikha said they are preparing to file a case with Netrokona court today (June 3). On contact, OC Monjur Kader said Ripon was not beaten. He was injured as he fell from the ceiling during his arrest, he said.
