Lift emergency, hold national polls before local ones: Menon
Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon demanded lifting of the state of emergency and conditions on indoor politics.
He was addressing a meeting of union and upazila level workers meeting at Gaibandha Public Library hall room in presence of over three hundred leaders and workers of union and upazila level.
Menon urged the government to hold general election before local body polls.
He said they would never sign any slavery bond like that of 'national charter'.
Now the government should lift restriction on open politics including meetings, processions and labour union activities, he added.
He demanded immediate stopping of mass arrest of political leaders.
He called upon the party leaders and workers to get prepared for contesting in national and local body polls.
Menon warned of even higher price of rice during the next monga period, as local moneylenders, stockists, wholesalers have stockpiled Boro crops after procuring it from farmers at low prices.
He urged the government to set up buffer stock of rice.
Workers Party Gaibandha unit Secretary Aminul Islam Golap presided over the meeting.
