5 including ex-DC summoned for non-appearance in court
Sylhet Additional District and Sessions Judge Ferdous Ahmed issued fresh summons on five officials including the then deputy commissioner Faisal Alam and a CID official while issued warrant of arrest against three other prosecution witnesses (PW)s in a sensational case.
The judge issued summons Tuesday afternoon as they had failed to appear before the court for deposition in the much-talked arms and explosives case against outlawed JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman (earlier hanged in a murder case), his aides and family members.
The court however, recorded the deposition of police constable Sirajul Islam, who was on duty at Surjodigholbari on the day of surrender by the JMB chief. With this, deposition of 16 PWs out of 50 had been recorded the case. The judge fixed June 30 for recording deposition of the rest of the PWs.
Those who had been summoned afresh are, former DC Faisal Alam, the then Additional Commandant of Rab-9- Haider Ali (additional SP), CID's SP-Masih Uddin and ASP Pranob Kumar Roy and first class magistrate Tofayel Islam. Warrant had been issued against Police Sub-Inspectors- Mosharraf Hossain and Mahmud and Md. Alam Miah of Purba Shaplabag in the Sylhet city.
