6 Srimongal journos sued
Two extortion and defamation cases have been filed against six journalists in Srimongal.
The accused are Sarfaraj Ali Babul, editor of The Weekly Srimongaler Chithi, its publisher Hasna Khatun, executive editor Yasin Arafat Robin, assistant editor KP Das Bulu, a staff reporter of the weekly (Name not mentioned) and Syeedur Rahman, Srimongal correspondent of The Inqilab.
Md Selim Mia, a businessman of Srimongal filed two separate cases of extortion and defamation with the chief judicial magistrate court of Moulvibazar on June 3.
After hearing, the magistrate issued arrest warrant against five journalists of the weekly and asked them to appear before court on August 5.
The court also ordered to the officer-in-charge (OC) of Srimongal police station to take legal action against The Inqilab correspondent Syeedur Rahman.
