12 Rajakars sued for killing two Khulna freedom fighters
Wife of a slain Freedom Fighter (FFs) on Monday lodged an FIR with Morrelganj police station accusing 12 Rajakars for killing her husband and another freedom fighter during liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.
Amirunnesa, wife of freedom fighter Sekandar Ali Bepari lodged the FIR accusing Akram Khan alias Akam, son of late Moktar Ali Khan of Teligati village in Morrelganj upazila as the prime accused. Other accused were unnamed.
In the complaint, Amirunnesa said Akram was a gang leader of rajakars in 1971. Akram and his men had gunned down her husband Sekandar Ali and another freedom fighter Wahab Ali in front of Fakirbari at Teligati village on November 25, 1971, she said.
The two freedom fighters were killed when they were trying to go to India by boat for joining the liberation war, the complainant said.
Morrelganj police station officer-in-charge (OC) Shajahan Khan recorded the FIR under sections 302 and 334 of Bangladesh penal code (BPC).
Sub-Inspector (SI) Rafiqul Islam became investigation officer (I0) of the case.
On contact, Morrelganj OC said Amirunnesa had submitted a petition with the court of chief judicial magistrate of Bagerhat Noor Ali seeking justice on May 2.
The chief judicial magistrate ordered Morrelganj police for an investigation, he said. After investigation, police could not find prime accused Akram at his village.
He had escaped soon after filing of the petition, the OC said.
Being confirmed about his complicity in the murder, police recorded the case, he said.
Filing of the case against the Rajakars has become a hotly discussed matter in the area.
