Additional Deputy Commissioner Masud Ahmed yesterday visited several spots in Khagrachhari district where thousands of people are vulnerable to hill slides as they built their houses, business centres and other structures cutting the natural hills and without any environmentally plan. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shahadat Hossen has called an urgent meeting at 10:00am today to decide the ways of resettling those living dangerously on the hill slopes, he told the daily star correspondent after visiting the spots in the afternoon. A seven-member team led by the deputy commissioner will discuss ways to rehabilitate the vulnerable people who have been living cutting hill illegally, he said. A report on risky living on hill slopes in Khagrachhari district was published in the The Daily Star yesterday.
