15 bombs, arms making materials seized in Khulna, Jhenidah
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered 15 bombs, six firearms, arms making materials, Indian sarees and phensidyl in separate drives in Khulna city and Jhenidah on Tuesday night and yesterday.
Raiding Nirala residential area in Khulna city on Tuesday night, Rab recovered ten live bombs, six firearms, 15 bullets and a lot of arms making materials, reports our staff correspondent from Khulna.
Tipped off, a team of Rab-6 led by Maj Sumon rushed to Nirala residential area at about 10:00pm when two young men ran away leaving two bags and a paper carton near a pond, Rab said.
After opening the carton and bags, the law enforcers found ten live hand bombs, five pipe-guns, an LG, arms making materials and 15 bullets.
Rab launched a nightlong combing operation in Nirala residential area but could not arrest anyone as suspected criminal or extremist.
The recovered bombs, arms, ammunition and arms making things were handed over to Khulna Sadar Police Station.
Our Jhenidah correspondent adds: Rab recovered five bombs, two firearms and bullets from Harinakundo upazila in Jhenidah early yesterday.
Tipped off, Rab launched a drive at Teltopi village under Harinakundo upazila and recovered five bombs, a pistol, a pipe-gun and six bullets from the betel leaf garden of Babar Ali Biswas of the village, Major Tarek of Rab said.
Rab also recovered Indian sarees and phensidyl searching a Kushtia-bound passenger bus near Jhenidah Jubo Unnayan Adhidaptar and arrested drug trader Mahiron.
