6 get life for murder in Chuadanga
A Chuadanga court yesterday sentenced six people to life imprisonment for killing a farmer in 2003.
The convicts are Basir Uddin, 33, Abdul Momin, 23, Jharu, 36, Kutub Uddin Ahmed, 39, Sayeed Ali, 30, and Rabiul Islam, 42, of Diourbila village in Alamdanga upazila, Chuadangna.
District and sessions judge Motaher Hossain gave the verdict in presence of all the convicts.
The court also fined each of them Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment.
Prosecution story, in brief, is that the gang of six stormed into the house of farmer Lutfor Rahman,50, at Diourbila village in Chuadanga following previous feud at night on August 28, 2003. They shot him to dead on the spot.
Victim's elder brother filed a murder a case with Sadar police station accusing 21 people.
After investigation, police submitted charge sheet of the case on February 26, 2005.
